Scottish Connection
Ossian is preparing Scoping Reports for both the Onshore and Offshore Transmission Infrastructure – Scoping is an early-stage process that seeks to agree what key environmental issues should be assessed within an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) which will be submitted in support of both the planning consent application (Onshore) and marine licence consent application (Offshore). The Scoping Report is submitted to regulators to obtain their opinion. The EIA is then prepared on the basis of this opinion. In preparation for the EIA we are currently undertaking onshore habitat surveys across the wider project area, and are planning offshore surveys for early 2027 to identify the environmental baseline for the area and to help inform the site selection process.
The project team have begun engaging with stakeholders, including representatives from the local council, community councils and landowners.
Background
For Ossian’s Scottish connection, we will seek consent to install subsea cables from the wind farm to a landfall in Angus or Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Underground cables will connect our new Ossian substation to the UK’s electricity network at grid connection points near Angus or Aberdeenshire.
The project is in the early development stages and awaits further clarity on the location of the grid connection and connection date in Scotland. The project will continue to work with NESO and the Transmission Operator for the region, Scottish and Southern Energy Networks Transmission.
