Transmission Infrastructure
Ossian is a proposed floating offshore wind farm located approximately 80km off the east coast of Scotland (referred to as the Ossian Array), which has the potential to deliver up to 3.6GW of renewable energy to the UK grid once built.
To connect Ossian, we will seek consent to install subsea cables from the wind farm to a landfall in Angus or Aberdeenshire, Scotland and Lincolnshire, England. Underground cables will connect our new Ossian substation and converter stations to the UK’s electricity network at grid connection points near Angus or Aberdeenshire and near Weston Marsh, Lincolnshire.
We highly value meaningful engagement with local communities and stakeholders in order to help shape and inform the project. The proposals are at an early stage in their development, and we welcome the opportunity to discuss the project and hear your views.

English Connection
Ossian is pausing its Lincolnshire Transmission Infrastructure work and withdrawing from the Development Consent Order pre-application process. This follows a change in Ossian's grid design, which means the team is now prioritising the connection allocated to it in Scotland instead.
The Lincolnshire connections remain part of the project's long-term plans, and Ossian intends to restart the DCO application at a later date.
The team thanks stakeholders in Lincolnshire for their engagement so far and we will continue to provide updates when there's news to share.
The National Electricity System Operator (NESO) is responsible for managing the electricity network within the UK and determines where projects such as Ossian connect into the UK grid. Its ‘Beyond 2030’ report and Holistic Network Design Follow Up Exercise (HNDFUE) confirmed Ossian will deliver its energy into the UK grid system via two connections in Lincolnshire.
In a further network design impact assessment, NESO have confirmed that Ossian will, in addition to Lincolnshire, have a further connection near Brechin in Angus or Aberdeenshire, depending on the final grid connection point to be developed by the Transmission Operator for the region, Scottish and Southern Energy Networks Transmission.
